Our People’s Warden, Derek Simpkins, was born in Vancouver and baptized at St. Philip’s in 1947. After graduating from St. George’s School and UBC, Derek spent many years in his family’s automotive business. He graduated from the Smaller Company Management Program at Harvard University in 1979. He also served for 12 years on the Board of Directors of St. George’s School as Treasurer, Vice Chair and Chair.
After returning to St. Philip’s in 1999, Derek served as People’s Warden and Rector’s Warden in 2001-23. He is now serving his parish again as People’s Warden.
Derek is also a devoted photographer who enjoys capturing inspiring images while traveling to various parts of our beautiful planet.
In addition, Derek is the proud father of Patrick who serves as an officer with the RCMP, and Laurie who is a rehabilitation worker at the Vancouver General Hospital.
