A glorious, sunny Thanksgiving Sunday was an appropriate first Sunday for Rev. Lorne to preach and preside at St Philip's. Volunteers had decorated the church with flowers, fruit and vegetables. The sunshine made the stained glass windows glow.
Before his sermon, Lorne expressed his appreciation for St Philip's parishioners' warm reception, support, and best wishes:
"Gratitude. What a day for it! Gratitude to you for being such a warm, hospitable, kind and generous people. I have never been better welcomed in a parish like you have.
I have never been as well fed in a parish like you have. We had a wonderful pot luck with our parish leadership last night. (Thank the Lord for robes, I'll tell you that much!)
My gratitude, and the feeling of warmth that I have in this place, it means so much. Thank you for being exactly who God made you to be."
Welcome to St Philip's, Lorne.
