On Dec 15, A Christmas Carol was read to over 165 rapt listeners. Produced by Sheryl MacKay, the reading of A Christmas Carol is a beloved annual event. Readers included Amy Bell, Dan Burritt, and Bob MacDonald from the CBC, comedian and author Charlie Demers, and parishioners Mira Bortolusi, Angharad Grey and Craig Wilson. Musical accompaniment was by Michael Murray on piano and Norah Mix on violin. Expert sound effects were by John Dolman and Paolo Bortolusi.
Proceeds went to St. Philip's Outreach Team which, among other things, gifts grocery cards to elementary school families facing food insecurity at Christmas. Thanks to ticket sales for St Philip's A Christmas Carol, added to steady donations from St Philip's parishioners, Outreach helped 57 families in four schools this December.
Dickens would have been pleased.
